Eating disorders in boys nad young men

The aim of this work is to summarize current knowledge of eating disorders in men. The theoretical part is trying to describe the key areas in which eating disorders differ between the sexes. Among the large number of small differences we can see also some major differences, especially radically different concept of the male ideal body image that causes most of the other differences. Therefore, the work paid attention to muscle dysmorphia, which occupies an important place on this issue. Although it is a multidisciplinary topic, thesis tries to target the areas related to psychology. The practical part is the research proposal, which aims to map a number of symptoms of eating disorders and muscle dysmorphia, body dissatisfaction and frequency of risk behaviors among college Czech non-clinical populations of men. It also seeks to describe some other relationships among these variables. Gender including transgender and its roles between Czech Pagans

The thesis analyses how modern pagans work with gender patterns and how they generally think about the topic of gender and gender inequality in the Czech Republic. I researched that through quantitative method - survey and also qualitative method - six semi structured interviews and participant observation on two rituals. The paper is based mainly on subjective perception and belief of pagan respondents and informants.
Awareness of men in the South Bohemia region and the Vysočina region about testicular tumors and their prevention

The number of testicular cancer cases grows every year. The prevention is very important for early diagnosis. The aim of this thesis was to survey the awareness of testicular cancer prevention in men in South Bohemia and the Vysočina Region and their attitude to a testicular self-examination. The empirical part describes a research which was focused on men aged between 30 to 50 who live in the South Bohemian and Vysočina region. To collect information, a quantity survey in the form of questionnaire was used. Four hypothesis had been set for this study. Based on the data analysis, other interesting relations were studied. To evaluate the hypothesis, the Kruskal-Wallis test was used. Thanks to the studied hypothesis it was learnt that there is not a statistically significant difference in the knowledge of men in the South Bohemian and Vysočina region of the testicular cancer prevention depending on the age or the highest level of education. Later on there was also learnt that there is not a statistically significant difference in the attitude of men in the South Bohemian and Vysočina region depending on age or the highest level of education. The study also revealed that there is not a statistically significant difference in the attitude of men in the South Bohemian and Vysočina region to the testicular self-examination depending on age or the highest level of education. According to the questionnaire survey we also found out if men undergo preventive medical examination, whether they had been informed about the testical self-exam, if they examine themselves, or, where they get information about these issues. This thesis can be also used as a feedback for general practitioners and nurses working in the primary care because it gives them idea how much these men in the South Bohemian and Vysočina region are aware about testicular tumors and their prevention.
Movement activity of vegetarian men

The bachelor's thesis entitled Physical activity of vegetarian men consists of two parts. In the first, theoretical part, I discuss men, vegetarianism and physical activity. I focus on the concept of vegetarianism as such, the division of vegetarians, the motivation to become a vegetarian, the history of vegetarianism. In the next chapter I deal with a man, his personality, gender issue and in the third chapter I deal with physical activity. The aim of this work was to determine the level of physical activity in a specific group of men who can be described as vegetarians. Data on physical activity were obtained by questionnaires of physical activity IPAQ-long and weekly monitoring with a pedometer repeated two times. The results, which were measured and processed are compared with the results of measurements in an equally large group of men, but they eat in a conventional way. 34 men eating vegetarian and 34 men eating normally were contacted. Research has shown that vegetarian men have a lower BMI than non-vegetarian men, but no significantly higher levels of physical activity have been demonstrated.
The communication Strategy of Nonprofit Organization Movember Foundation in the Czech Republic

The bachelor thesis Communication Strategy of Nonprofit Organization Movember Foundation in the Czech Republic presents international nonprofit organization which focuses on men's health. The first part of thesis focuses on history of the organization and its missions. The thesis continues with a chapter in which is explained the role of marketing in nonprofit organizations then marketing goals in the organization are defined. The next part of the thesis is concentrated on communication strategy of the organization in the Czech Republic. This part also analyzes who are target audiences and defines competitors among other nonprofit organizations within the same area of interest. Furthermore this chapter presents communication activities in two time periods: 2009- 2012 and 2013-2015 and analyses them. The next part concerns author's own research, which will reveal awareness of the organization in the Czech Republic. Moreover research will show if Czechs consider the organization as trustworthy institution or not. In addition to that, research will disclose if the organization was successful in terms of increasing the awareness of male's cancer during the 7- year-period of its presence in the Czech Republic. Alternatives of Home Violence Settling as seen by the Roman Catholic Church

My dissertation Alternatives of Home Violence Settling deals with various alternatives of how the home violence problems can be settled. The introductory chapter goes through the professional interpretation of the home violence term as well as causes, forms and specific signs of this violence type, being followed by description of its consequences and the myths which have gained a foothold in the general public. The home violence is characterized as a long-term, repeated and escalating physical, mental, or sexual cruelty to persons living in the common household; it takes place between close persons, adult family members, or also life partners. The victims, being exposed to long-term violence, lost their self-confidence, however, their fear and confusion increase; they also suffer from a good many various symptoms as depression, shame, decline of general state of health, or increased suicidal behavior. Chapter two focuses on the characterization of the home violence victims and delinquests as well. As to the victims, these can be everybody, irrespective of their education, age, social position or economic situation - women, seniors and handicapped persons as well as men. Project Patron - the case study of engaging men in the areas of civic, public and private life which needs their deeper participation Abstract The support of engagement of men in the areas of civic, private and public life which showing the lack of their involvement becomes a topic in the last decade on the level of EU and some national states. But there is just little social research focused on the practical ways how to support the engagement of men in these areas. This paper offers the view from perspective of the studies of civil society - which is especially focused on the motivations to volunteering - combined with the perspective of the studies of men and masculinities. The core of this paper is a case study of the project Patron in which the adult men creates friendly-based relationships with the young men from the institutional care and help them to manage the leaving of this care to the "real life". Gender prejudices and stereotypes in Czech society

The thesis entitled Gender prejudices and stereotypes in the Czech society deals with such prejudices and the stereotypes that are the current social problem with which every man in his life can encounter since attending the primary school and later during the looking for a job or in a family life. The aim of this thesis is to find the gender prejudices and the stereotypes in the MEN/ WOMEN magazine, the WOMEN part, column Topic for 2011 which consisted of ten editions of this magazine. The thesis is based on the theoretical knowledge and it tries to interpret the analyzed gender prejudices and the stereotypes. The theoretical part serves for better comprehension as it focuses on the definition of the term gender, as well as gender and its associated prejudices and stereotypes and the media themselves as the magazine analyzed is part of them. To achieve the objective, a method of a quantitative content analysis was used. The data from the research are processed into individual tables.
